A few weeks ago I spoke with a large, diverse group of women around the world on the topic of career pivots.
We took a look at early life messages and learnings about how to define success.
We then shifted to present day, discussing current definitions of success.
At times, we integrate learnings from early on, other times we reject those ideas and beliefs.
When considering change at work, whether it's a promotion, a lateral move, or a complete career shift, how do you define success now?
Think about it, your version is unique and not static - doesn't it depend on your phase of life, for example?
So, what are values you fulfill with your, 'I am successful because' list?
For me, honest relationships with those I love, health, purpose-filled work, fun, and growth are some of the values I honor through my list.
Give yourself quiet, uninterrupted time. Be present and from your heart, write down 3-5 key life values. Next, write specific ways you honor those values, creating your personal success philosophy. The simpler, the better.
Writing it down is far more powerful than thinking about it.
Feel free to let me know how it goes.
